Few Braces Questions. Please Answer, Easy 10 Points?

396545381 im 17 years old and im getting braces on soon..I have very crowded teeth and a large overbite. Im worried that i might need over things besides braces. Do you think i would need other appliances beside braces? I was also wondering how do they put braces on and what are the spacers for. I forgot to ask my ortho these questions because I was nervous

  1. Ryan - If you have a overbite, I did, then you have to wear block before, nastily thing I hated them.
When they put them on they dry all your mouth with cotton buds that you have to have, they clean your teeth with pure water dry them, but on the glue and put all the brackets on, then once there all on they latch the wire onto the brackets and that's it

  2. Chrispy - If it's serious then you might need to wear those metal bars around your mouth lol (Like in the music video Katy Pertty - Last Friday Night)

They just put cement on your teeth and push the metal parts on your teeth, then add in the metal wiring. Spacers are those rubber band things that hook on the metal hook they add in with your braces to another metal part on a different tooth, it just helps to keep moving your teeth overnight. You are instructed to add them yourself everyday.

After braces you will need retainers to keep your teeth nice and straight. I was a bad boy and didn't wear mine so I have a TINY little gap on my bottom middle teeth.

  3. Tiffany C - Typically unless you have severe overtime you will not need anything but braces. Its been yeas since I've had braces but it doesn't hurt to have them put on. They start off as a small pieces that gets bonded to your teeth and the wire is attached in the back to a ring that fits around your tooth. The rubberbands.just.hold the wire onto your teeth. At some point you may need the larger bands that help redirect your teeth (attached to the top and bottom) but typically not right away. When they "tighten" your braces they just change the wire making it fit differently. That's when it becomes sore temporarily. I don't know if that helps. I hope so. Don't be nervous. Its not as bad as it seems. And the end result is great when you finally get them off.
