I had a temp crown put on 6 months ago, but I lost my job and Ive just now gotten dental care back. I had to put off my permamnent crown because I couldnt afford it. Its been six months and my crown is barely left, I have an appt to see the dentist today. I am just nervous too much off my tooth is gone, Ive had a root canal on this tooth as well and there's only slight pain sometimes. Will he tell me I need an implant instead?
Gracinda - Honestly, only your dentist can tell you at this point, because *he can look at your tooth*.
ReplyDeleteRobbie - A crown is not a big deal unless you don't have dental insurance. (probably around $1200 for a porcelain one), so why are you so worried about it? I assumed this was a dental insurance question. And yes, you can get insured even if you have a partially cracked tooth that needs immediate attention. This private dental plan saved my rear - ( a few hundred dollars to be exact).
ReplyDeletedocgobbler - Unless there's decay on the tooth requiring massive amounts of tooth removal, you'll be OK. Since it's already had endodontic treatment there's no need for your doc to worry about removing too much from the biting surface of the tooth to make room for the crown.
