Alternatives To Peanut Butter For Child With Nut Allergy?

396545383 I've heard of sunflower butter but when I went to my local natural foods store it was made in a factory that also makes peanut and other nut butters. Are there any other nut-free alternatives to peanut butter or stores that sell sunflower butter that is allergy-safe?
He eats jelly and jams but when he was younger he loved peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, it was one of the few things I could get him to eat but then after eating cashews he had a really bad allergic reaction and the doctor said no nuts. He always wants to have peanut butter so I'm hoping to find something similar

  1. Ruby Hernandez - You can go to trader joes they have a variety of things like that. Might I suggest jelly jam instead?(:

  2. Grace - I found this website:

    http://www.sunbutter.com/allergy-nutrition.php

it says that it is made in a nut-free environment.

  3. Cindy in Texas - It's easy to make your own in a blender. Soak raw seeds first to start germination & maximize nutritional value.

email me your email address & I will have a vendor send you a 10%off coupon with order - they have raw sunflower seeds for $2.69#

  4. Elizabeth H - Besides the other good answers, I can recommend the SunButter brand of sunflower butter. It's very similar to peanut butter but made from sunflower seeds in a totally nut-free facility, so safe for him! I blog for SunButter, so I see and read about people who use it on sandwiches, as a dip for apples, bananas, carrots -- and in recipes for cookies, cakes, bars, pasta and other dishes. (I shamelessly admit my fav way to enjoy it is by the spoonful.) There's a spot on the SunButter website to find where to find it near you. http://bit.ly/9q2g

    Take care!
