  2. Steve - I get hyper when I eat a lot of chocolate. The body can quickly use sugar because the simple compound of sugar you feel hyper or something. Food like whole wheat and brown rice has fiber mixed with the carbohydrates so the body absorbs substances that contain energy at a more slower rate and thus there are no fast high peaks of sugar use.

you may have blood sugar swings. Either high blood sugar in the form of diabetes or high to low blood sugar swings in the form of hypoglycemia. Either way it's high blood sugar upon eating sugar!

You could also have a fructose intolerance. This is when your body is unable to utilize fructose, a sugar that makes up 50% of sucrose. 40% of people have this problem. I doubt that it is more related to this than blood sugar though

If I were you (and I am because I have the same thing :P) I would avoid sugar and grains
(yes, even whole wheat). They both spike blood sugar dramatically.

  4. John W - Your heart just figures, hey there's more glucose in the blood, we must be getting ready to do something so I'd better pump more blood. It's kinda like when you stomp on the gas pedal in a car, the engine revs up.
