  3. rhilex1982 - You are going to want to eat a lot of lean meats and protein and water and fruits and veggies on a low carb diet. As for exercise the dips, pushups and crunches will work. along with a little running and biking and of course swimming!

Really, just go into the water and swim. Boxing is going to help you gain muscle but only if you train right and eat the right stuff. Then again, you'd look like a boxer.

  5. A - well as others have stated you could swim!... BUT phelps doesn't just swim he also lifts weights. since you cant lift weights yet i guess the body weight excersices will have to do. so you are pretty slim like me being 6'1 hovering around 155-160 so i know how tough it can be to gain muscle. i also have trained in a boxing gym and have a bag in my garage. the dips, push ups, crunches, and boxing should get you in great shape if you stick to it. boxers typically have a different look to their body than swimmers. swimmers prefer to have some fat since it helps them float and swim faster where as boxers try to attain the lowest weight/lowest fat % as long as it doesnt hurt their strength too much. swimmers will eat more-check out phelps diet and be amazed-so keep in mind what you eat and how much will play a big role in how your body developes. eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, and non processed meats plays a huge role in getting in great shape. also try and get your fat from healthy sources as well(raw pine nuts, various sprouted nuts, avacados, maybe a few raw egg yokes, etc). STAY AWAY from foods with refined sugar and junk foods(highly processed foods.)
if your goal is to gain muscle with those body weight exercises try to stick to low reps. if you can do 30 pushups easy, instead do inverted pushups where your feet are raised higher than you hands. the higher your feet the harder they will be equaling fewer reps. the general rule when trying to build muscle/stregth is 8-12 reps. for dips if you can do 20 or more either use a weighted belt, hold a dumbbell with your feet, or try and do them very slowly both up and down. handstand pushups are another good exercise when the regular ones get too hard.
when you can get into lifting again i would highly recommend olympic lifts. snatches(or power snatch), cleans(or power cleans), and full atg squats-these full body excersices will keep your body looking well balanced and beastly!
ultimately though everyones body wont develope in the same way using the same techniques so you will have to see what works for you and adjust where it is needed. try and remember to enjoy this whole process otherwise it will be impossible to be consistent.
