Hi everyone!I was reading about Leukemia on this website and it said you are more prone to leukemia if you're Jewish. How is that so?

ReplyDeleteKyle Oge - I'm not sure. It may be due to the fact that Jewish people have a different diet then others. Maybe this makes them more prone somehow. It also might just be a coincidence.
ReplyDeletetmorris - It's just genetics. Everybody want people to think we are all exactly equal but genetics don't lie or pay attention to being PC.
ReplyDeleteEverybody is different and every genetic pool has it's strengths and weaknesses. Some people are stronger, some are more prone to certain diseases as you have found. It's just genetics that allow some illnesses to be more apt to happen in certain races.
Andee - It would have to do with genes. Certain races and ethnicities are more prone to certain illnesses.

ReplyDeleteTiny - This may be flawed research and conclusions. This is kind of an "urban legend" in the biology field.
ReplyDeleteIt stems back to a leukemia cluster--outbreak, that took place in the mid 1950's in New York and seemingly was more prevalent in the certain blood type group ABO. All patients with leukemia were attending five of the largest Brooklyn hospitals during the years 1953-56. This is still being studied but I personally believe it was due to some sort of environmental exposure that they were unaware of. You have heard of all of the secret military germ studies of the post WWII era? I believe this may have been related to something of that genre.
