  2. EmmaLucia - Maybe, but there could be other explanations to your problems. Do you know any nurses, or any one with diabetes? If you do they might be able to check your blood sugar. PLEASE ask an adult to do it! It needs to be a fasting test, meaning you should not eat for 8 hours beforehand. Usually morning is the best time. Your fasting glucose level should be around 85. I'm not sure about this, but your school nurse might be able to do it if you tell her your concern. She will probably need your parent's permission, though. Really it sounds like you should go to a doctor anyway. There could be other reasons for your symptoms and only a doctor can diagnose you.

  3. Sandy - It's possible, but you're not mentioning the more diagnostic signs of diabetes: constant thirst & constant peeing.

If you're really concerned, you DO need to see a doctor. If it's not diabetes, you might have something else going on that only a blood or urine test could confirm.

Tell Mom the truth, that you just haven't been feeling well lately and that you're concerned. Explain that you feel you need the lab work done to find out what's causing your problems.

In the meanwhile, below is a link to a diabetes site that you will find useful. Check it out & discuss with your doctor when you see him/her.

***Good luck - hope this helped & that you feel better soon!

  4. John W - Well, those symptoms don't really indicate diabetes. True if you're overweight you are more prone to insulin resistance but once you're diabetic, you tend to lose weight as your cells starve to death. Neuropathy tends to happen after years of having high glucose levels. Getting fuller faster is a symptom of diabetic gastropararesis which is when the Vagal nerve that runs along your digestive tract is destroyed, again that happens after having the glucose levels elevated for long periods of time. Note that gastropararesis can be caused by eating disorders too.

You should tell your Doctor the symptoms that you have, just tell your parents that obviously you're not healthy and you need to become healthier so you want to talk to your Doctor about it. As to what it is, your Doctor will decide on the tests needed but quite frankly, it's most likely because of your weight
