operagirl2011 - They replace the wire with a smaller one, and it will make ur mouth really hurt for a couple of days so stock up on apple sauce and soup cuz u won't b able to chew. Hot pink would b kwl and so would a mix of hot pink and lime.
deb.peg1 - It depends on your orthodontist, your dental insurance, and how much your parents are willing to pay. Nevertheless, the wires are going to be tightened and it is going to hurt. Not when they do it, but within a short time afterward and for a day or two afterward. I say get the hot pink bands. It will take your mind off the pain.
Regina - They put in a shorter wire. It doesn't hurt it just aches. After about three days it will feel better. The only problem I had was when they put in the shorter wire, ur teeth pull into position and there will be extra wire sometimes after they move that poke u. And braces are the only time u can have fun with colors and change it every month or more. ;) and u will be so happy when u get them off. It's worth it!!
monhegan - Replace wire. Colors-- if it makes you feel better and you can afford it ok. It will "ache" a bit mostly tje first 24 hrs so you might want aspirin or tylenol.
Joan - After he tightens the braces,the dentist cuts the loose wire off in the corners so you wont hurt your gums. Sometimes he replaces the wire after it has been used for many months only which makes your teeth feel cleaner and tighter. though it is better when the wire's replaced every time. *Do not get dark colored bands because your smile would look ridiculous in photos. I once got dark blue bands and it looked like i have rotting teeth. Pink was always my chosen color :D have fun
