Heavy Nose Bleed Not Stopping :s?

396545383 I just got a nse bleeding for no reason at all (get them all the time) its really really heavy and iv ruined my towel and a bedsheet already :/... how can i get it to stop it been bleeding for 9 minutes now and the blood is ..goey ?(gross i know but it is lol) im really starting to woryy what will i do to get it to stop ?

    Jane W - Sit down, pinch the soft part of your nose and tilt your head forwards. Apply an ice pack if there's one handy. This is the current first aid advice, from St John Ambulance.
    Tilting your head back causes blood to run down your throat and will make you vomit. Pinching the bone does nothing; you want to to compress the blood vessels that are bleeding, not the bone.

    Epic Link - I experience this all the time. Hold a bit above where the bone in the nose ends, and squeeze. Make sure that you squeeze the bone. It should help.

    cashrules - just keep it plugged for at least 10-20 min. if it doesn't stop, then go to the hospital.

    Dad - nose bleeds in themselves are not so serious unless heavy and very regular... try putting head back with a cold wet flannel over the nose, you may feel a littl eblood in th eback of your thrat but thats normal, swallow it.
    next time at the doctors, get it looked at - a simple cauterisation will do the trick...

    SarahT - Pinch the bridge of your nose (right in front of the bony part) and tilt your head forward... if it continues and/or your start to feel dizzy or light-headed, you should see a doctor to make sure you haven't lost too much blood.
