Can You See When Someone Is Wearing A Retainer?

396545381 I'm getting my braces off next week (yay!) and I have to pick my retainer colors. I want to get purple on top with a rainbow on the bottom, but I'm 14 now, and I don't want to be 25 and taking colorful retainers out of my mouth.

So, will people be able to tell I'm wearing colorful retainers? How often can I get new ones?

  1. blue girl - no,no one sees it!
and i don't think you could change it soon!
it probably takes 2 or 3 years.

  2. Taylor - People can only really see the small wire horizontal to your teeth when you smile. Or if you get the colorless one (looks like someone doesn't brush their teeth with that one). But new retainers usually cost about $200 so you might want to think ahead.

  3. Randomness! - No one can see them! The only thing they will see is the wire in the front. I suggest not getting white or any light color because it will turn really gross overtime (my friend got zebra print and says the white part is like brown now,EW). You can't really get new ones, unless they break or something. They cost a lot to get new ones, my dog just chewed my top retainer and it was $150 for a new one. So if I were to need to get both remade, it would be $300! I had no idea I was getting them off when I did, so I didn't have much time to think of what color I wanted so I just got blue. Because I like blue, and it's a dark color so it won't get discolored overtime or at least as much as other colors will.
