How Do People With An Allergy To Water Survive Life?

396545383 Apparently, there are a handful of people in the world who have an allergy to water. How do they eat, hydrate themselves, and stay safe from humidity?
Samanta: Uh thanks, but couldnt you take the time to copy/paste the sweet part, rather than rush the answer to make it half-assingly first (no offense)?

TweetyBird: Excellent, i didnt know this. As Charlie Sheen would say, "WINNER!"

  2. Mila - There was an interview with one of those people on TV..
She said that she could only drink diet coke because of the ingredients it contained, and had to wear a special coat to go outside.I'm not really sure how they eat, but they also have to take showers that only lasts about 20 seconds...

  3. TweetyBird - You're referring to aquagenic urticaria. It may be that the skin reaction is to minerals, ions and/or chemicals in the water and not to the water itself but the exact mechanism isn't completely understood. This theory is supported by the fact that reactions are more likely to occur after exposure to tap water than bottled/filtered/distilled/purified.

An individual with aquagenic urticaria must take an antihistamine daily for life and use care in choosing water to drink and cook with. Obviously, despite antihistamines, unnecessary exposure to environmental water ( including rain, snow, fog, etc.) must be avoided as well and could include relocation to a dry climate and away from lakes and other bodies of water.
