I am a student who is 18 and trying to get a little fitter. I ride my bike too and from class everyday (about 2 miles). I have done this for about a month. By this time you would think I would be at least a little in shape. However, I still run out of breath exremely easy and just walking up the street can make me winded. Is there a particular reason for this?
Little about myself:
Lived on the east coast now go to school in the mountain west. 260ibs (not fat nasty fat. Kinda built fat) 18 y/o I have been in the west for about two months so I don't think the atmosphere change is the problem however I could be wrong.
dimitrikounine - In order to improve your cardio you need to push your cardio. Leisurely bike rides does not elevate your heart rate enough.
ReplyDeleteJCrepps - You aren't pushing yourself very hard. Develop a high intensity interval training program for biking and perform it a couple times a week on your way back from class. HIIT is proven to increase anaerobic and aerobic fitness.
ReplyDeleteAs for weight, just remember that if calorie intake is less than calorie expenditure, you will drop pounds.
Bubble Ghost-- - Well 2 miles isnt a lot... but your are true, you should got at least a little bit better in shape.
ReplyDeleteYou eat too much. You dont burn tons of calories while riding a bike 4 miles. You burn ~200- 400 depending on your speed and if you think 'oh yea, i ride my bike, so i can eat more'. I think that is your mistake. Get a clean diet. E.g a snickers bar has ~260 calories (that small one). So if you ride your 4 miles, then eat a snickers you dont get the decifit. No decifit- no weight loss...
