How Can Prevent From Getting Another Cold Sore?

396545381 I got a small cold sore on my lip, and I usually never get them, it's not a big deal. But of course it was at its biggest my first day of tenth grade the other day. Anyway, and I'm assuming I most likely got it from using my mouth guard at night. I clean it every morning after I wake up. I rinse it pretty good, and use a separate toothbrush to quickly clean it a little better. But maybe their are still germs on it that I'm not cleaning enough, from my saliva and all? I got the cold sore about 7 days after using the mouth guard. I stopped using it after I figured that was the problem and it went away. How can I prevent from getting anymore cold sores, or even anything worse?! Any better ways to clean my mouth guard or anything? Thanks!

  1. Brendon - Cold sores actually aren't caused by germs on/near your mouth. They are either caused by a type of Herpes, which is passed on through kissing and is not bad in any way (apart from the cold sores), or a deficiency of iron, folic acid or vitamin B12.
