Can Drinking Too Much Water Rob Your Body Of Nutrients?

396545382 I work out a lot and love water and am obsessed with staying hydrated. My mom told me that i need to be careful because i could be flushing out nutrients from my body. Is there any truth to this?

  3. ron - Absolutely not, water is the main nutrient you need. since i started drinking 8 or more glasses of water i feel great and I look great. I've lost a lot of Weight but just drinking water. Plus you wont feel so bloated if you drink a lot of water because water keeps you hydrated and being dehydrated makes you feel bloated, fat, sick, and icky.

  4. Justin - Sure you can its called water intoxication or hyponatremia. Drinking too much water throws off your electrolyte levels, dropping your sodium concentration, which is vital for nerve, muscle, and fluid levels. Drinking too much water could result in drowning due to too much fluid entering the lungs causing an irregular heartbeat. Its really not that common, but it can happen if you drink a lot of water too fast without allowing your kidney to process the fluid intake. Always listen to your parents, they know what they are talking about majority of the time. 8-12 glasses of water is recommended.
