Allergic To Shaving Cream?

396545383 I used shaving cream in the shower this morning becuase i figured why not try it, then i noticed red dots poping up everywhere on my body and there still there. Odviously I'm allergic but is this dangerous, and what is in the cream that i can be allergic to? Its the kind that starts as a gel and as you rub it on turns to foam
It's on my arms and stomach and every where

  1. Gracinda - I want you to try something: put a dab on the inside of your arm. If you are truly allergic, it will start turning red and itchy pretty soon.

I'm only suggesting this because what you are describing sounds more like razor burn. Were your legs warm and were the leg hair warm and soapy before you tried to shave? If you shave and you have goose bumps, you are much more likely to get razor burn.

Razor burn hurts. Allergic reaction: itches.

UPDATE: well, it does sound odd that you have a rash even where you didn't use shaving cream. Perhaps it isn't related to the shaving cream? Did you use a new soap? Typically a contact dermatitis occurs only where it "contacted" the irritant.

You could try some Benedryl to see if that helps.

  2. Jack - My best friend had the same problem. his face was getting really bad with a rash. he started using shaving oil, which is slightly different, and he hasnt had an allergic reaction to that *yet*. Since i dont know what chemical youre actually allergic to, im not going to promise anything, but its probably worth a shot.
