What Is The Best Milk For Diabetics To Drink?

396545384 Would it be non-fat milk or soy milk type stuff?

If you like to drink a lot of milk, unsweetened almond milk has around 2 grams per cup compared to about 12 grams in skim and 1 % cow's milk. Drink what one you personally prefer and that fits in your meal plan.

  2. Tabea - All types of milk contain carbs. If you're just having a splash of milk in coffee/tea, then the amount of carb is negligible. But if you are having a milk-based drink, then it will be necessary to count carbs.

The lower the fat content of cow's milk, the higher the carb content. So, heavy cream actually contains the least carb per portion and is hence the most diabetic-friendly as it will raise blood glucose by the least amount.

Soy milk has fewer carbs than cow's milk.

Ultimately it is a matter of taste.
