Questions About Wisdom Teeth Extraction?

396545381 Next weekend, I have to get two (maybe even all) of my wisdom teeth extracted and I'm terrified! I know I won't feel anything during the procedure because of their medicine, but I'm seriously afraid of shots. When putting me to sleep, do they put a gas mask on me or do they inject a needle? Can I tell the dentist to put me to sleep first thing before numbing my mouth with the shots? Which options do you think I should choose for the procedure?

  4. Dylan - well it depends, i had mine removed the other day and i was in your position, i got an IV sedation, and it wasnt anything at all.

heres what you do, you walk into their office, sign the paper and take a seat waiting on your name to be called.

once they call your name, the nurse takes you back to the room, has you sit in the chair, while they get everything ready, then the chick comes into the room thats gonna give you the IV(mine had like double D's, so it was okay hahaha.) and then she'll tie it off, get your veins goin, and stick the needle in, and put the IV up, which is just a saline drip. you'll sit there for a bit, get oxygen hooked up on your nose, all kinds of heart monitors. etc. take your blood pressure.

then the doctor comes in, says whats up, and pulls out the needle, with in my case first, was something for nausea after you wake up, which id strongly suggest you get, puking 3 seconds after waking up isnt fun.

so after that, he'll inject half of the sleepy medicine, which wont knock you out just yet. you'll just feel funny, and you'll kinda be quiet at that point, you'll be high as a kite. and the weirdest thing happend to me, i was mid sentence, and i didnt even see darkness coming or anything, i just watched him put the other half in, and my eyes were wide open. and i didnt even get to close my eyes. 5 seconds later i was waking up and i was out of there. no big deal at all. totally over worried about it lol.

so yeah dont sweat it man, its nothin.

    goodluck!

  5. Alecg2 - You'll be fine if you have a really good surgeon relax follow their instructions after the procedure and don't spit!

I used teabags to soak up the blood.
