Question About Re-treatment Of Root Canals?

396545381 I'm a dental assistant fresh out of school, but this I don't know. What are the chances of having a root canal that needs a retreat if it was done by an endodontist? I'm just wondering because the tooth in which I had that was root canal treated in 2007, which still feels deader than a door nail is weird. No inflammation or pain. I'm wondering if it's more of a possibility of it being a tooth next to it instead? Again I have no symptoms of an infection, no sensitivity. Is it a bigger possibility that it's something with the tooth next to it? My oral health is great, I tend to drink more soda than necessary which I feel would be the culprit if there is a problem

  1. Jessica De vinci - If there is overfilling of canals or if infection is left in the canal or if there is severe gum infection present, then it can lead to infection in the root canal treated tooth. If you have any problem, the dentist will take a radiograph to see where the problem lies. If there is shadow (radiolucency)in the x-ray, then it suggests infection in the tooth.
