it's been 8 weeks since i quit smoking but yesterday i smoked 2 cigarettes... we were playing poker and my friends are all smokers so i thought one wouldn't hurt me... but today i didn't smoke.. so do you think i can keep it this way? i mean smoking occasionally, is it possible ? if no what should i do?
Zachary Munshaw - Its a slippery slide, gt a good grip, and you can try your hardest to limit though, i know someone who only smokes when im hanging around him LMAO!
ReplyDeleteMcGee - I'm a former smoker. I smoked for over 30 years.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing you need to realize is you're either a smoker or you're not. There is no "occasional" smoker, and there is no "tapering off". When you put a cigarette between your lips and light it, you're just as much a smoker as the first day you started. Any efforts to quit have all been wasted by this time.
If you want to quit smoking (and I hope you do), it's an all-or-nothing proposition. You either ignore the temptation and become strong or just forget it altogether.
Amora T - You can definitely smoke occasionally, there will be no harm. 2 cigarretes in like a week will not harm you much. Do not Completely try to force yourself to quit, that will only agggrevate you to smoke more especially you're with smokers on a poker games (which i assume will be more to come).
ReplyDeletedaaaave - This would be personal, I have friends that have quit who can have a couple on a weekend here and there, and others who can't. I cannot have any. I have quit 5 times, this each time I tried to "just smoke when I drink." It never worked for me and slowly I would wander my way back to being a full blown smoker again. So really it depends if you can handle it. If you find that you are falling right back into your old ways I would stop entirely. You just have to know yourself. My best success (currently 10 months smoke free!) has been when I don't smoke at all and live a completely smoke free lifestyle. Good luck!
