syl c. - If "sugar" is excreted from the body in urine, it is a symptom of diabetes, in which the normal negative feedback mechanism has been upset by the lack of the hormone, insulin. As a result, blood sugar level is unstable, and can rise so much after a meal that the kidney cannot reabsorb it all, and some glucose escapes from the body.
In the normal condition the hormone insulin causes excess sugars entering the liver from the digestive system to be stored as glycogen. Later, this can be reconverted into glucose under the influence of another hormone glucagon, and allowed out into the bloodstream, as required by the body. These actions have the affect of keeping the concentration of glucose in the body steady. (an example of homeostasis).
