  3. syl c. - Your blood glucose levels are unstable so that means you are having problems with your dietary intake. That is, you need to change what you eat. Try eating five or six small meals, low carb, add more protein, drink alot of water, also exercise walking 3 times a week for 30 min will help. Also, if you don't have a glucometer buy one. These measure your blood sugar levels and you can test before and after meals (2 hours) should be no more than 140 mg./dl after eating and 70-100 fasting when you get up. This testing can help you determine which foods are driving your blood sugars up. Keep a diary to share with your doctor.

Also, you can ask your doctor to see a dietitian who can help you set up meal plans for your individual needs. Dietitians can help you with meal planning, glucose levels, exercising they are lifesavers!

Hopefully you will be able to control your levels with diet and exercise and won't have to take medications.

    Hope this helps.

  4. Noccie - How high? Were you fasting? Did he do an A1c test? Has there been more than one high fasting reading?
One high glucose result means little without additional tests to see if this is a chronic problem. If you weren't fasting, then the number isn't very useful.
