I went to the doctors last month because i'm always exhausted and thirsty and had blood tests done, but the doctor said it was all healthy. How ever this past couple weeks i've been even worse. my Nan and Dad are both diabetic and my mom keeps telling me to go to the doctors on Monday but does anyone else have any idea's? I eat a lot of starch products such as rice ect. I drink mainly diet pop water or coffee - and i only drink that as it wakes me up in the morning, because with how tired i get i struggle to get out of bed. I'm desperate! Help?
Jessie Mae - I would get a second opinion and more exhaustive testing done. Also, if you are really concerned about NOT getting diabetes you should start eating a healthy diabetic diet now. At least avoid empty carbohydrates and eat enough fiber every day. Cut back on breads, pastas (unless they are whole wheat, as long as you are not sensitive to gluten) and eat tons more fresh veggies excluding starchy veggies like potatoes and corn. If you like rice, at least eat brown rice instead of white. Brown rice is better for you. White rice does not contribute to good health. Pop of any kind is bad for you especially diet pop. There are some things in life that we just have to avoid. If you are really interested in your health take the time to find out what is good for you and what is bad for you and make the changes that you need to now, before it is too late. I hope you find out that you do not have diabetes. I hope that you chose to eat a balanced diet that will help you to have more energy. OH, wait, I thought of something else... When I am not having enough fiber my bowels do not do their job correctly and that makes me VERY tired, lethargic and sometimes grumpy. If you are not having at least one "good" movement per day you are probably not getting enough fiber. By good movement I mean it should not be runny, nor should it be terribly hard. sorry if that was tmi. It is very difficult to get enough fiber from our diets these days so I use the walmart brand "equate" fiber therapy. I am telling you I get really, really exhausted when I am not having great movements every day.
ReplyDeletesyl c. - Your blood glucose levels are unstable and its due to your diet. You have the risk factors with a family history but you can prevent this by changing your diet. You're having moderate highs and lows. Do you own a glucometer? If not, buy one this tool measures blood glucose levels in your body. When you feel like this test yourself and see what type of reading you obtain. First thing in the morning which is fasting is usually 70-99 mg/dl 2 hours after you eat 140 mg/dl. You can check after you eat and see what foods are causing your high levels. Keep a diary to share with your doctor.
ReplyDeleteEating five or six small meals, low carb, add more protein, drink plenty of water and ditch the diet sodas this will make a difference on how you feel. You are tired because of the diet and thirsty because your body is trying to get rid of all the excess glucose levels. Get rid of the starches such as the rice, etc. The caffeine is causing a burst of energy and then the sudden drop when your blood sugars drop. The high carbs/sugars are giving you the boost when you first take it and then dropping after it gets out of your system. Thus, the reason you are so tired and thirsty. Try walking 3 times a week this will help, exercise is good for you and will stabilize your blood glucose.l
Check with your doctor and request an oral glucose test where you drink a sugary drink and then you are monitored to see how your body responds to high sugar. This could help solve your problem. Try the above tips and you'll see how this will help and esp. help in stabilizing your glucose levels to avoid becoming insulin resistant.
Hope this helps.
