My husband thinks he may have Celiac disease, we have an appointment made for him but we wanted to try and cut gluten from his diet and see if he felt any better. He is having a hard time thinking he won't be able to eat breaded things. So what is the best way to make things with intstead of using wheat flour. I am going to go grocery shopping and I need to know what would be best. Also I was wondering how are things listed on labels? I know I am going to have to read labels but I need to know what to look for. Any
tips appriciated, Thanks!
★☆W.a.b.b.y✿❀ - DO NOT CUT GLUTEN OUT. A gluten free diet will skew the blood tests. If you don't eat gluten and have the blood tests done and you have Celiac Disease, your blood tests will come back negative.
ReplyDeleteYour husband needs to go back on a gluten free diet.
Unfortunately the diagnosis of Celiac Disease cannot be made based on symptoms. Many people have Celiac Disease and have no symptoms at all. A top gastroenterologist at the Mayo Clinic suggests that everyone should be tested for Celiac Disease. So your husband (and anyone you can about) should have the blood test. Celiac Disease occurs in about 1% of the population.
So save your time researching until you've had the tests done. Because if they come back negative then he doesn't have Celiac Disease, but he may have something else going on. The symptoms of Celiac Disease can be so varied and non-specific.
