Heart Palpitations, High Pulse Rate, Elevated Blood Pressure! Help! Any Natural Remedies?

396545385 I have been under tons of stress that lead to my heart palpitating. I'm 27, overweight, with a history of anxiety. I had an ecg done that looked normal at that time...will see a cardiologist in 3 weeks just in case. Doctor prescribed Xanax, but I want to try a natural substance first. I have talked to several nurses who believe it is anxiety. I'm scared crapless just thinking of them occurring again. My blood pressure is in the pre-hypertension range of 140/90, with a resting pulse rate between 90-96. I quit the caffeine ASAP, and eating healthier. What natural tea or whatever can help to avoid xanax?

  1. sssfeme2liv4 - First, If you do have a heart condition, you need to be very cautious as far as the natural remedies go, because everyone's body responds differently to different herbal remedy's. First you have to find out what is the true cause before you can treat it adequately. The weight is definitely adding extreme stress to the heart, it weaken's the heart, and makes all of the organs have to work harder which will raise your blood pressure and pulse. But that being said, those are not nearly the only causes for this, it could be many different things. Are you on any current meds?, are you dehydrated, has your thyroid blood levels been checked etc etc....all of those things can potentially affect the heart rhythm and pulse rate...along with stress as you mentioned. Ask your physician if you can get a referral to a nutritionist, have your doc do blood work CBC, Thyroid as well. Just try to eat better, stay hydrated, plenty of rest and excercise's such as walking, swimming etc. As far as remedy's to help you I like Stash Chai Green Tea during the day, that helps alot, and it also raises your metabolism, and reduces hunger. At night you should try not to eat carbs within 2-3 hours of bedtime, this helps you to sleep better, if your hungry, try a small piece of low fat cheese, or 4 oz non fat milk, or a small protein snack, this helps you to relax, and sleep better, you can also try Camomile tea at night, works wonders, also if you buy Pure Lavender Essential oil, dilute 10 drops to 8 oz of water, and spritz it on you throughout the day, or anytime you need to settle down and relax, you can spritz it on your bed linens, pillows, in your bath...but word of caution...you will definitely be relaxed and potentially sleepy....it is not a drug, it is all natural, and very therapeutic.....good luck to you
