So lately I've been drinking alot of water than I usually do probably 2-4 glass an hour. I've been going to the bathroom alot than I usually do also(to pee). Sometimes when I get out of bed when I stand up my vision just blacks out and I feel kinda dizzy for a few seconds or a minute. My foot also feels numb sometimes for a few minutes. I also lost weight but I don't think I lost ALOT of weight. And I have a blurry vision. I also get easily tired or always tired.
Diabetes runs through our family so do you think I should tell the doctor and get tested? And do you think I probably have type 1 diabetes?
I'm 13 turning 14 soon and I'm not overweight. I need answers ASAP thanks...
Bob - I'm 14, but if yuo drink loads of water, pee lots, and the pee is clear, and ur eyes feel differ, check it out

ORMES - See the doctor now. You might be in diabetic ketoacidosis and losing both water and electrolytes which will put u on the icu.
ReplyDeleteAnne D - Yes, might be time to check in with the doctor. It might be just a bug or virus but something sounds wrong. No way to know if it's type 1 diabetes unless you go but the symptoms sound like it could be.
ReplyDeletesyl c. - Type 1 symptoms appear suddenly such as your symptoms and it seems that you have the symptoms of type 1 plus you have the genetic risk factor.
ReplyDeleteIncreased thirst and frequent urination. As excess sugar builds up in your bloodstream, fluid is pulled from your tissues. This may leave you thirsty. As a result, you may drink and urinate more than usual.
Extreme hunger. Without enough insulin to move sugar into your cells, your muscles and organs become depleted of energy. This triggers intense hunger that may persist even after you eat. Without insulin, the sugar in your food never reaches your energy-starved tissues.
Weight loss. Despite eating more than usual to relieve hunger, you may lose weight sometimes rapidly. Without the energy sugar supplies, your muscle tissues and fat stores may simply shrink.
Fatigue. If your cells are deprived of sugar, you may become tired and irritable.
Blurred vision. If your blood sugar level is too high, fluid may be pulled from your tissues including the lenses of your eyes. This may affect your ability to focus clearly.
Talk to your parents about your symptoms and have them set up an appt. as soon as possible with your doctor to obtain glucose testing in order to obtain a definitive diagnosis and early treatment, if necessary in order ot avoid diabetic complications.
Hope this helps.
Skyla - Hey, I am a type 1 diabetic and I had all those symptoms when I was diagnosed. i think you should check this out because if you do have diabetes and you COULD die. I hope I helped.
ReplyDeleteTabea - The only thing you need to do ASAP, if you are worried, is to get your blood sugar tested. That's the only way to know if you have diabetes.
ReplyDeleteIt's not at all hard to get your blood sugar tested. If diabetes runs through your family, someone in your family should have a blood sugar meter. It's also possible to get your blood sugar tested at health centres or pharmacies, or anywhere that offers diabetes screenings.
