Distraction Of The Aorta?

396545385 I'm currently at the ER with my mom and they said she might have distraction of the Aorta.( I don't know if I'm spelling) Google isn't helping and the doctors aren't saying anything. Could someone please explain to me what this is. Thank you!

  1. Foxi Chan - When there is distraction of the aorta, it means that this artery got broken for a traumatism, so the blood coming from the heart to the aorta doesn't go to the rest of the arteries, it is like 'spilled' straight in the torax.
    She might need a surgery.
    Good luck :)

  2. Fiz - You mean disruption or dissection? Tear in the aorta possibly?

  3. ckm1956 - A dissection is a tear in the lining of the aorta. Not a good thing, but usually not hard to diagnose and not hard to treat by a competent vascular surgeon.
