my mother is highly allergic to this artificial sweetener/poison. she accidentally ingested a food product that contains this junk, which of course, showed it contained splenda in small print after the fact. this poison elevates her heart rate, causes her to break out in hives, and distresses her body. i have tried searching online for remedies but so far no one has listed any and only recommend other sweeteners...she is visiting another state right now and cannot visit a hospital on her budget.Wednesday, September 7, 2011
Counteracting Splenda Side Effects?
my mother is highly allergic to this artificial sweetener/poison. she accidentally ingested a food product that contains this junk, which of course, showed it contained splenda in small print after the fact. this poison elevates her heart rate, causes her to break out in hives, and distresses her body. i have tried searching online for remedies but so far no one has listed any and only recommend other sweeteners...she is visiting another state right now and cannot visit a hospital on her budget.

Grand Duchess LadyProtector - Tell her take Benadryl she can buy it over the counter. It will stop the hives and help bring her breathing back to normal.
ReplyDeleteThis is what we use in hospitals or doctors office when people are allergic to foods, or medicines. The sooner she takes it the faster she will have relief.
Also, drinking lots of water with little milk of magnesia after waiting 24hrs of taking the Benadryl so she can have it clean out her system.
Tiny - An antihistamine such as Benadryl would be the drug many allergy clinic nurses would prescribe for that type of allergic reaction. I am in no position to prescribe drugs. This is an "over-the-counter" drug so should be very safe for her to try. Good Luck
