jackie m - The simplified version is early stages, the cancer is there and as you said started spreading to the lymph nodes but nowhere else and possible she will get a hysterectomy and lymph node removal. Your mum will know the details as the doctor would have explained it to her. Good Luck

You probably know that the stage of a cancer refers to the size of the cancer and if it has spread. From the information that is available, it is not possible to give you reliable information about the stage of your mum’s cancer. But unfortunately when cervical cancer spreads to the lymph nodes it is not at a very early stage. I can appreciate that this information may sound very alarming, but it is still possible to treat a more advanced cervical cancer successfully, although more intensive treatment is required. Could anybody please help me? My mum as just been diagnosed with cervical cancer which as spread to her lymph nodes :-( what stage is this?

ReplyDeleteBTW the pathologist can only stage pathologically and often do not know, and unless presented in the specimen, cannot comment on distant mets.
