I was a a birthday party yesterday. My daughter had to go to the bathroom. I was standing in the door waiting for her, fanning it while talking to someone. She got done and we walked out. I had been at the house almost 2 hours and been fine. After leaving the bathroom, I started getting hives and itching. Then my nose started running, I got a sore throat, my chest started feeling heavy, my eyes were itchy and watery and I got a headache. I gathered my children and left immediately. I took benadryl to
help ease the symptoms. I asked my friend to check and see if she had black mold and turns out there was some on the wall by the bathroom doorway! So I am SEVERLY allergic, obiously, to black mold!! I figured once I took the benadryl, since I had left the house, the symptoms would start to go away and I would get better. (I was Perfectly fine before the party) This morning they are just as bad and now I have green mucus. Should I go to the doctor for something or let it run its course?
msmag - yes you should.
ReplyDeleteI really hope you ok, Good luck!
Cait Cait - Allergies can give you green mucus if you have a really severe reaction (the green colour comes from your immune system reaction). The doctor can't really do much if it's an allergic reaction - they're most likely to give you a stronger anti-histamine (although if you get symptoms of anaphylaxis go to the doctor IMMEDIATELY - this is the only kind of allergic reaction that really requires medical attention and can be life-threatening).
ReplyDeleteIn my experience different people respond to different anti-histamines in different ways (some work, some don't), so if the benadryl isn't working try something else like Allegra. If I get a severe allergic reaction it takes a couple of days to calm down and because I'm sensitised other things also set me off (grass, pollen, animal dander, etc etc etc etc etc) - just take the anti-histamine regularly according to the instructions for a week or so until your body calms down and see if that helps.
