  1. skittlesndmms - take pain pills before the application my friend because if u don't..well good luck with the first couple hours. they hurt a lot the first day (they say they don't but o yes they do) but after lets say 3 days u can return to normal eating. and if u happen to get 2 brackets, do not, i repeat DO NOT, bite into anything hard for the wire would come out and then u just a sharp pointy thing in ur gum. also they should go over how to brush ur teeth and how to clean them. and for veggies and fruits i suggest slicing and dicing them nice and good. and carry an extra christmas tree floss-er during school or outings because ur very likely of getting food stuck in between wires

  2. Smarticle - Soooo, they put these brackets on your teeth and put a wire through them, then they out on an colored bands you would like around them to hold the wire in place. Your teeth will start shifting very soon. Take some pain medication because your mouth will be sore since your teeth aren't used to moving like that. Be sure to ear carefully for the first couple days as not to hurt yourself anymore. Make sure you clean in between the brackets really well. If your cheeks start to hurt, put some of the wax the give you on the bracket that's rubbing your cheek until your cheek heals and builds up so that it won't rub anymore.

  3. megan b - Take pain meds. Just do.
The application of brackets is long. It took me about 2 hours. I listened to my iPod. You could ask to do that or you could ask to have a radio on.
The glue they use to apply brackets is sour, and its ok if you accidentally swallow it.
The wire will poke you when they first put it in but they trim it so it wont bother you.
The brackets will be open when they put them on, so dont close it with your tounge.
It might hurt if the nurse person hits your gum with the bracket, but its okay.
If the bracket falls off, the nurse will put it back on. It will all be okay.
When youre done, dont drink through a straw or eat anything. Especially nothing cold. It will make your gums bleed.
If a bracket pops off before you leave, tell them!! They need to fix it.
Its going to hurt for about a week. Major pain the first 3 days, minor pain the rest. Take pain meds.
They will tell you what you can and cannot have to eat. They told me anything in -o's, nachos, doriotos, cheetos, ect, was off limits.
To be honest, as long as youre careful, you will live.
But i would not reccomend eating candy canes at christmas time.
