  1. Grace - it took me like 2 days to eat normal food, and it depends how messed up your teeth are

  2. TheycallmeMom - Braces are cute. Time will fly and your teeth will be beautiful. The sooner you just man up and chew past the pain your teeth will loosen and feel much better. Its painful until you do that just try mustering through a sandwich and move up from there. Its worth the 5 min pain if you baby it they will be sore even longer. This happens each time you change the wire. But one day of chewing through it you feel better. Also use the wax religiously your lips adjusts quickly once they desensitize to the brackets touching. If you get any sores..get some Kanka (cancer sore medication) and slather it on any sore it coats it for hours. Enjoy! Its no fun but worth it!

  3. JP15xo - Well ive had my braces on for a week now,
I'm still not used to eating
Ate rice pudding for the first 3 days
After that, i started cutting " normal " food into the smallest portions,
Took a fork, and put it on my VERY back teeth ( one side of my mouth )
because braces arent on the very back teeth

    No, braces aren't disgusting,
Its disgusting if you dont clean them
Be happy :D You're teeths finally going to get better

Ehm, my ortho said 2 years for me, but i heard the more it hurts, the faster its working :)

  4. Sloan The Sloth - I got my braces yesterday. I stil lcan't quite eat regular food, like chewing, but some how I managed to break u pa sanwhich into small swallowable sizes xD.

Braces usually look cute, they're not really disgusting.

It dependso n the person. Mine will be off in a year, but my brother had his for 4 years. A tip is, to do as they ask. If you don't brush your teeth, and if you don't wear your rubber bands (if you get any) then you'll have to wear them longer.

  5. Liz - I remember when i got my braces on lol good thing i went through the whole process with my sister and i remember that the pain lasted for about 1 to 2 weeks everyone is different but remember it all pays off. Don't worry about what peopke think about your braces because you will be fine. It does hurt though when you get them on but you will get usdd to it. My sister and i used to laugh at each other on how painfully we thought it was and how we looked but after all it was a fun experience. Take things on the bright side and hey you have people who support you( your parents). And if anyone makes fun ofyou which i doubt cuz i never got made fun of mine and everyone nowadays use braces then don't give them any importance.Hope this helps. Goodluck.

  6. Jessica R - about a week...

i just got my braces off, it took me a week to get used to it too. and the retainer ached :( braces were a pain, but you'll get them off in no time! it really depends on the persons mouth, but the average time would be 1.5 - 3 years

  7. l☮ve is our weapon ❤ - usually just a week if not less
you might have to break your food up really small for a while so you dont have to bite it
i dont think theyre disgusting, lots of people have them now & people get used to it

depends what was wrong with your teeth, i had mine for just 1year but some people have them for 3

  8. Merisa C :) - For me, when I had braces, it took a week or so for the pain to finally stop. It really depends on the person, though. For you, the pain should only last for a few days. But hey, try cutting your food into small pieces or just eating liquid-y food, like pudding and soup, for now until the pain eases.

Your teeth are going to look amazing when you get your braces off-- trust me! They're only disgusting if you don't brush your teeth and floss. I remember my teeth before I had braces and they were awful. I couldn't even smile. I got my braces removed a couple months ago, and I got compliments from strangers that my teeth looked fake because they're so straight and white. Just listen to your ortho when he or she says to wear rubber bands and everything. You will have braces for a longer time if you don't wear them (I would know, I wasn't good with wearing them). Your smile is going to be beautiful, girlll. :)

And for your last question, it depends on the quality of your teeth. But usually it's 1 1/2 years to 3 years (that's how long I had them, but that's because I didn't follow my ortho's instructions).

  9. Tiny™ - I got braces on a Thursday, and on Friday, I was nomming on french fries (slowly and softly, mainly using my teeth that didn't get braces on them yet.)

Saturday, I ate McDonald's with minimal pain. I still couldn't bite or anything
Sunday, I went to camp, and by then I was eating normally.

Soo... it depends on your pain tolerance and how tight the braces are. And it depends on whether you got full braces (I didn't, only got 4 on the top and bottom teeth for now)

Braces aren't disgusting if you take AMAZING care of them.
Do everything your orthodontist tells you do to. I mean EVERYTHING. Wear your elastics when you get them, brush after every meal, avoid things that can break your braces. Floss. Don't miss an appointment. These factors can help you get your braces off sooner.

  10. Joshua Gibson - You'll just get used to it in a matter of 2 weeks, after that you'll realize you won't feel awkward about that fact that it's attached on you. Just enjoy eating and lessen sticky foods so that the brackets won't remove.
