What To Do To Lower Cholesterol?

396545385 I have been doing a pretty extreme diet and exercise program for a couple months but my cholesterol is still high. Any tips or should I just stick with the diet and exercise? (I've lost 45lbs so far!)

  1. gangadharan nair - Cholesterol can be lowered by diet, exercise and statin drugs. Adopt DASH diet (Mediterranean diet). Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oils such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils. Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods.

  2. Patty Mcsmls - Stick with the proper diet and exercise and also it's better that you take a daily supplement to promote healthy cholesterol levels. Vasacor is an example of this supplement. Whether you’ve already been diagnosed with high cholesterol (which maybe your case) or just want to prevent future problems, it can help you take control of your cholesterol

  3. doctoranswers - High Cholesterol levels are often genetic too. Despite adequate exercise and dietary control they still remain elevated.
In such cases doctors prescribe drugs called as Statins to lower the Cholesterol levels.
I would recommend you to get a LIPID PROFILE done (Total Cholesterol, LDL Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol and Triglycerides.)
A clove of garlic swallowed whole everyday would definitely lower Cholesterol levels.
