Jack Frost - Transient cerebral ischemic attacks secondary to emboli from the mitral valve due to endothelial disruption have been reported in patients with MVP, though a causal relationship has not been established. What does that mean? Here is the jist of that in everyday language (in my words, so not as precise as the paragraph above, which should be the final authority) -- If you have MVP, then the condition may cause blood clots to travel to the brain, causing a TIA, or mini stroke. Whether the patient with MVP is more prone to blood clots than someone of similar age, physiology, and health (except for the MVP) has not been studied to my knowledge. My recommendation is to see either a cardiologist or to regularly visit a doctor who specializes in internal medicine.
