What Type Of Bandages Are Used For Bedsores(on Buttocks)?

396545389 My mother has 2-3 bedsores on her bottom and she doesn't know what type of bandage is used. About fives day ago she had just got out of the hospital where the newest sore developed. While there, she said the nurses used something that looked like little pieces of cotton and they put a cream or lotion on.

So how exactly should she go about home care for her bedsores on her bottom?

  1. historical - the nurse should have provided the neccesary information. get to the drugstore they can advise you on local solutions. but essentially you need to clean sterilize the wound daily using sterile gloves gauze and disinfectant. you also need to treat the skin if it is too dry or oily using a hot compress tih soap and dry it off

    in this order

    remove the old bandage
    put on sterile gloves
using a basin of hot water and soap clean and compress the wound and clean the area around the wound
once this is done do not touch the wound
sterilize the wound using something like diluted dettol or hospital grade disefentint and gauge
dry the wound and allow to dry for about 5- 10 mins using clean dry wipes
make sure it is dry do not touch it
apply sterile bandages like mepore. these come in a variety of sizes are individually sealed
do not touch the cotton component
    apply bandage
    when bandage is applyed correctly
use silk tape to hold bandage in place
    do this every 24 hours

try to get her out of bed long term more are going to form if she cannot get out of bed
bed clothes need to be cleaned at hottest possible wash at least every couple of days.
everything around her needs to be absolute clean including yourself if your caring for her
    hope this helps
