Is becoming a dental assistant through an online course good or bad? If I do this am I going to have to take extra hands on classes to be completely certifiedl. Please help!
Sandy - Please don't do it online. Please. There is no way you can learn dental assisting from a distance - it has to be hands on experience. It's similar to asking if you can learn how to drive from just studying the learner's permit manual. You will be wasting your money. The most you will get from it is a good working knowledge of dental terminology, but you can get that from a textbook for FAR less money. My advice to you, is to find a good school in the health field, and attend it. Get references from graduates, if possible. Dental assisting is a good field and there is always work for you, but you must have that hands-on experience from the beginning. ***Hope this helps!!
