You also need to do the obvious like choose lean meats, fill up on veggies, drink plenty of water, take your vitamins!!, avoid fatty foods that we all know are bad. Also, try a site like Sparkpeople.com. They will show you how many calories you need per day to get to your goal weight by 9/4/12. Stay in that calorie range and you'll do great! Good luck!!
Cee Cee - I am 30 years old (so a lower metabolism than a 17 year old) and I just surpassed a 70 pound weightloss. I lost it all within 6 months.
THe only safe way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat healthy and exercise. DO NOT live a sedentary lifestyle. Get up and move around, run, clean, go to a gym or just get out and go for a walk or play a sport in your backyard with a few friends.
Eat healthy by eating a bunch of fresh fruits and veggies, whole wheat, and lean protein. Let yourself have a bit of sugar now and again. The more you deprive yourself of something sweet, the more you're going to want it. I gave myself desert or a treat once a day. I never went over my 1200 calorie diet once in 6 months, but I also never went hungry.
To lose 1 pound a week you need to burn 300 extra calories a day. I signed up for www.myfitnesspal.com (free and there is an app for it on Droid and iPhones). You track all your food and exercise. It really helped me.
alexr - First off that's 20 pounds and you could get that off in a month or 2 just by going to the gym for 30 min a day. If your a bum then walk around for 1 hour each day and listen to the iPod you stole. And stop eating mcdonalds or any of those places. When you collect enough money from pan handling get yourself a nice Italian pizza not from pizza slut or dickminos. Masterbation or sex could also work if you do it often enough each day.

jose b - It is only 20 LBS, good exercise, and no fast food or Soda will get you there sooner then you think. Try not to focus on weight but more on body fat percent. You will go much farther
