to start off, id like to say that im 13, and my family has a history of high blood pressure.ok today my blood pressure was 129/82. pulse: 87. the highest it has been was 136/91. Pulse: 110. the lowest it has been in the past 8 months was 117/ 79. Pulse: 80. does this mean i have high blood pressure, or is that normal for a kid? please help! thanks!!!!!

ReplyDeletePaul Jackson - Blood pressure does bounce around a bit naturally. The readings aren't particularly high. The only one that was out of normal range was 136/91. The 91 is just a little high. Take a look at this chart.

It's good to be vigilant about this since it runs in your family.Taking care now will help you avoid it in the future. I'm assuming you don't smoke. Never start. That's horrible for blood pressure. Also make sure you don't get too much salt in your diet. Lunch meat, soups, and sauces tend to have plenty of it. Exercise, and watch your weight. Try not to worry too much. Your numbers look fine.
