Is There Any Music To Help Someone Get Through A Loved One With Terminal Cancer?

396545116 I would love to send my Aunt some music to help her during this difficult time.

  1. Memere RN/BA - No music in the world can take a person's mind off their impending death. My sister is terminal. She will not live to see Christmas. Spend as much time as you can with your aunt. Even if it's just to watch TV, and don't be afraid to cry, it shows you care. Don't talk about her cancer unless she wants too. Time with her is going to be your most precious moments with her. I and the rest of my sisters spend as much time as we can with my sister. We've shed many tears, many laughs, and reminisce about childhood, That's what's comforting to her. God bless your aunt and I pray she knows that peace that passes all understanding
EDIT McCall...until you've been through it, you have no clue. Do you really think that a dying patient wants to hear. "listen to music, it will make you feel so much better and forget about dying." Yeah, right.

  2. McCall Evans - I don't agree with Memere RN/BA at all! Music has been proven countless times to do amazing things to a persons mind. In fact there is a college degree which one can study for called Music Therapy. Studies have shown that music therapy can lower blood pressure, improve sleep and reduce anxiety. Cancer patients who get music therapy in addition to chemotherapy report less nausea, anxiety and pain in phases of treatment. Hospice patients have shown possitive reactions to music therapy. You can get CD's specifically made with Musical Therapy in mind here:
