Amelia - Host a dinner in your community, make a team for an annual breast cancer walk, make something and sell it (like hats or scarves). There are so many things you can do. You could talk to someone from the ACS and they could give you a lot of ideas as well.
I've been involved with the American Cancer Society and their Relay For Life event. I joined a team a couple of years ago and each year we schedule fundraisers to raise money to fight cancer. Some of the fundraising events include:
- Dine-to-Donate: Restaurants donate a percentage of customer's bills when that customer presents one of our flyers we've passed out promoting the fundraiser (and the restaurant)
- Selling coupon books for discounts to local businesses
We also have an overnight event that includes bands, music, food, a luncheon for cancer survivors, and a program to honor and remember those that have lost their battle with cancer. Most people spend the night for the event sleeping in tents, etc.
