I got my permanent retainer from an orthodontist that I now live far away from. I called an orthodontist office where I live now to request an appointment to simply get my permanent retainer fixed (the adhesive is pulling off one of the brackets causing a sharp spot that cuts my tongue). The receptionist told me I had to make an appointment for an evaluation exam before the doctor could do any work. I am NOT paying hundreds of dollars for an evaluation when all I need is a quick fix. I am 31 years old so I'm pretty sure my teeth are good to go...just need the adhesive fixed! I'd love some advice on finding someone who would be willing to do this without charging for ridiculous things that aren't needed, before I waste my time calling around. ChipinCA - Call another Orthodontist. My daughter went to someone else to have a retainer made after she lost her first one. Somewhere, someone should be able to help you. People are just so malpractice phobic these days...ugh good luck
