Okay so in a few weeks I have to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth cut out. I was told by various people to eat liquid only soups, jello, and ice cream, but is there anything else I can eat? I also want to know how long it takes to recover from this surgery. I'm planning to take Thursday and Friday off from school then I have Saturday and Sunday also. Idk how sore I'll be though because they don't know what all they will have to do since my bottom two are starting to cut in to my major nerve and the top two are going in to my sinuses and they are all four impacting my other teeth. I'm really scared. Lol.

ReplyDeleteJason - Ok so you won't eat for about 3 days. You will basically just drink. Soups primarily. It depends on who you are as to how long it will take you to recover. When you get them taken out, rest, don't try to talk, just sleep on your back, drink lots of water, and just rest. When you get them taken out, you get stitches in your mouth so you have to take it easy as to not risk ripping them out. Your mouth with be soar for about 3-6 days then it will feel better. Don't worry. You'll be fine. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIpsa Koehler - After wisdom tooth extraction, you can take mashed potatoes and soaps and liquids. Smoothies and ice-creams can be taken by patient immediately after tooth extraction. After 6-7 days of tooth extraction, pain and swelling will regress. It will take weeks to months for complete healing to take place depending on amount of trauma to the tissues and procedure which is used for tooth extraction. Wisdom tooth extraction can be done under anesthetic shot or conscious sedation. ReplyDeletearnie g - Just a heads up,you may not want them to give you a drug called Versed
ReplyDeleteIn fact, many people who use Versed for "conscious sedation" during a procedure are awake for the entire procedure but remember nothing, often believing they were "out" the whole time.
Versed (Midazolam) is an amnestic. It is commonly administered in combination with anesthesia before and during surgery. It is also commonly used for minor procedures like colonoscopies dental procedures like extractions, conscience sedation, twilight sleep, so that patients won't remember pain and discomfort.HOWEVER THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THOSE SENSATIONS WILL NOT BE EXPERIENCED!!!!Forgetting does no mean it did not happen!!
