Whats The Outcome Of Cardiac Arrest In Icu?

  2. Rebecca B - That depends not only on how successful the resuscitation was and how long it took but also what caused the cardiac arrest in the first place. Also the age and general health of the patient before the arrest.

    Some people will be perfectly okay; some will be left with residual problems but still be able to be independent, or independent enough to go back to their normal lives with minimal support; some will be left with longterm problems and some will survive but never to the point of being able to leave hospital/longterm care.

  3. John W - Well if you're going to have a cardiac arrest, that would be the place for it.

    There are actually two ICU's, Intensive Care Unit and Intermediate Care Unit. The first is where they are really watching you closely, the second is where you are waiting for a room.
