I had about 6 of those and 1 Marlbro class A cig ( gold/yellow pack). the reason i am smoking is because it makes my anxiety go away. By smoking the cigs i already did, am i at a risk of cancer now or if i stop now will i be fine? please help me out. Thanks in advance.

  2. db82 - You should be ok for now nut if you continue you are at a higher risk for cancer. About the anxiety smoking does not control it. That is all mental. You need to talk to your doctor and look into a better way of controlling your anxiety. Good luck

  3. lydia d - How can anyone in this day and age actually start smoking - I can understand why people who started smoking back in the days when it was considered medicinal can't stop but why on earth would you start when we know that smoking can kill is in more ways then the guys that created that SAW film franchise can think of.

Yes you are at risk of cancer - those few aren't likely to have caused cancer alone but they do more damage then just cancer and just one cigarette can cause respiratory and circulatory problems. Stop now and respect your body because there is a reason people do smoke for years - because they don't know how to stop the addiction is that strong - and then they are at serious risk of cancer.

You think you have anxiety problems now - wait till you've been smoking 30 years, have advanced COPD and can't walk more than three steps without being breathless and have to live attached to an oxygen machine but you still can't stop.

  4. Gopal - Consult a psychiatrist for reducing your anxiety neurosis. There is a common occurrence with almost everyone. You can have cancer after a very long use of cigs. Why take a risk when your anxiety can be reduced or cured by medicine after consulting a specialist doctor.

  6. ChemoAngel - You are better off investing in a Box of Chamomile Tea. THAT Will cure your anxiety without health complications. Of COURSE You are at risk! As soon as you picked up that first cigarette. STOP Now and you will be fine.

  7. libramom - Stop now. Why? Because it's much easier at 17 when you haven't been
smoking long. Take the money you would spend on cigarettes and put it in
a jar. You'll be surprised at what you're spending. Then buy something you
really want. It isn't only unhealthy, it's expensive.
My close friend has been smoking for years. So far, he's ok. He has tried to
stop but has failed repeatedly. He started at 14. He now smokes two packs
a day that is costing him, in this state, around $400.00 a month or about
$4,800.00 a year. Now if that doesn't cause a anxiety attack what will. All
up in smoke. His grandfather died of lung cancer. Think about it!
