i never noticed until last night that my heartrate is kinda high. i was just sitting on the computer and i leaned in a weird position and could feel my heartbeat, it was pretty fast for just sitting around doing nothing. it was like thump thump thump thump thump and it would even SKIP sometimes, idk if that's in my head or what. then to make sure i wasn't crazy i checked my mom's heartrate, it sounded more like thump.......thump......thump.... slow and relaxed. she's freakin 57 and i'm 17 so is something wrong with me? i do smoke so i think that contributes to it but anything else? im also a pretty anxious person. should i go to the doctor?
i also drink a lot of coffee but i honestly don't think all of this would cause my heartbeat to be that fast while doing nothing.
Shergill - Hi Flower,
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking more than 100 beats per minute is considered high. I wonder what your heart rate is? You have not stated what it is.
Coffee is a cardiac stimulant and it is known to cause missed beats.
Cristine - when my son was 4, his heart skipped beats at least 3 times a day. When i brought him to the doctors a few weeks later, they put him on oxygen and a heart monitor. He was on the heart monitor for 3 weeks for the doctors at my local children's hospital to diagnose him on medicine. I completely forgot which medicine put it was for kids and teens. After taking it for 2 months, my son got better. Now he is nine and plays baseball, soccer, track, and runs around with his friends. Now I amn worrying about my daughter but really, this is serious and you have to tell your doctor or it could lead into bigger effects.
