I Can Easily Train/endure Crunches But Can't Train/endure Push Ups, Help?

396545382 For crunches, I can easily just push myself and get cramps after that.. But for pushups, my arms just seem to be too weak and my chest as if heavy and I can't do that much and I can't endure or train too!!

My arm strength is really weak and i dont know how to improve. without weights and stuff.

  1. Hellena - First, check if your posture is correct. Bad posture makes it harder to do a single pushup.

Also, check where you are placing your hands. Hands closer together use more arm muscles but hands further apart use more chest/back muscles etc. Read up on what is the right position to train your arms (I don't remember the details anymore).

Try bench-sit ups. Sit on a bench and put your hands on either side. Then, move your butt off the edge and lower yourself down until you almost touch the floor, then push yourself slowly back up. This is like a pushup, but less intense and can help you build your arm muscles first.

Also, try doing pushups on a raised surface such as a bench (make sure it doesn't move though!) A less steep angle makes it easier to work on your pushup technique/strength.

You can also try doing 'girly' pushups by using your knees. This is probably the best technique.
