  1. dairy queen - It could be atrial fibrilation, which is when the heart quivers more than beats, and this is quite dangerous, but it sometimes stops, others , it leads to a heart attack, i would see a doctor right away, as this is not normal.

  2. Occam's Pitbull - Its not likely that your heart stopped altogether, as loss of consciousness due to no oxygen reaching the brain is basically instant. But, if you do think you are having irregular rhythms you should get yourself checked out by a doctor. Some irregular rhythms, like atrial fibrilation, are quite common and can resolve themselves (in some cases a doctor-administered shock is required), and it would feel like your heart is racing -usually around 150-160 beats per minute. If you experience a racing heat rate that won't disappear, you must go to a doctor. In atrial fibrilation, for example, the top chambers of the heart beat way faster than the lower chambers, causing your heart to work less efficiently as a pump - blood can pool in the heart because the fluttering atria cant keep up with the incoming blood, and if left long enough it can cause more immediately serious things, like a stroke, for example. Also, there is a chance that it could just be simple palpitations, which sometimes come with that impending sense of doom that you seemed to have experienced. To be safest though it would be best to have a doctor evaluate you, as I am not one.

  4. real_people_dont_need_labels - i thought that once, when i was having a small anxiety attack. but i was just paranoid and thought my heart stopped. go to a doc, they may end up telling you that you have anxiety and give you some valum or xannax... which can be addictive so be careful.
