Is Using Expired Children's Cold And Allergy Medicine Dangerous?

396545383 I have either allergies or a cold, and I don't want to take my Zyrtec because I have a strong feeling that it is actually a cold. I have some Children's Cold and Allergy Elixir (CVS brand) and it expired in January, but I'm wondering, is it actually dangerous, or has it just lost some of its potency? It smells fine and I tasted a drop and it tastes fine. Grape flavored medicine really brings back childhood memories. I want to take it so bad now lol :)
But it's late and I don't feel like driving to the store and I'll be up for hours coughing if I don't take anything, because I have to breathe exclusively through my mouth. If it is safe I'm just going to take it. Besides it's yummy :) Haha

  1. Ruby - it may not be bad or dangerous but it has probably lost its effect. therefore there is no use taking it. there is a risk that it could be bad for you. Stay on the safe side and just get new stuff

  2. Dowlinggram - I wouldn't take it. When medicine is expired it looses it's effectiveness but no one knows what the effects will be and you won't be able to take anything else.

Take your allergy medicine and a couple of aspirin. It will help a cold too. What do you think is in cold medicine. It's pain reliever like aspirin or tylenol and antihistamine
