I dont beleive that anymore. I've been so diligent
with my eating and not dropped even one single pound.
I am going to start exercising since I have a treadmill.
I have to get up and take a thyroid pill and wait an hour to eat
and then I can exercise. I'm going to start off with 20 minutes of walking
and go from there. I can either do it fasting while I'm waiting for my hour to get
up or eat then workout....is either way ok?
If I choose to eat first what would be something good to eat when one is prediabetic
or borderline diabeticc or metabolic syndromed or insulin x or whatever it is that I have and
hoping it wont make a difference what I have...I just need some food ideas for morning working and thanks so much!
shouldnt I avoid the carbs though because of the prediabetes raising my blood sugar levels too much?
syl c. - Good choices for providing your muscles the energy they need include bananas, whole-grain cereal or bread, low-fat milk and juice. If you'll be exercising less than an hour after rising, eat a bigger bedtime snack, try a sports drink or eat a lighter breakfast.
ReplyDeleteEating small, healthful snacks just before or during exercise helps most people enjoy a quality workout.. Effective snack options include bananas and other fresh fruit, whole-grain bagel or bread with peanut butter, yogurt and granola bars. Snacks are especially important if you exercise several hours after a meal.
Hope this helps.
Tabea - I'm afraid I have to disagree strongly with the respondent who suggested bananas and wholegrain bread in the morning. You are absolutely right that these are high in carbs and will raise your blood sugar levels. By how much - only you will know, by testing your blood sugar after eating.
ReplyDeleteTry this out yourself - one morning, eat a banana and some wholegrain bread for breakfast, and test your blood sugar 2 hours later.
The next morning, eat bacon and eggs for breakfast, and compare your blood sugar 2 hours later.
Most people are insulin resistant in the mornings so the lower carb you can go, the better.
Other good low-carb options include nuts, olives, avocadoes, cheese. There are also a few brands of low-carb wraps, tortillas etc, which can be used as bread substitutes.
TheOrange Evil - Morning blood sugar can sometimes be the highest of the day for diabetics, me included. That's why I try to keep my carbohydrate intake at a minimum for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteMost mornings I just have breakfast sausage. I'm not a big eater when I first wake up. On days I am feeling hungrier and more energetic, I make omelets with broccoli, cheese, and chicken (usually from last night's dinner) and a side of bacon.
Occasionally, I'll make low-carb waffles and then freeze them in Ziploc bags to use throughout the week. They're made out of almond flour and low-carb whey protein powder, a sugar-free sweetener, eggs, a splash of heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Each one is only a few grams and they taste great with sugar-free syrup. Not all maple syrups that are sugar free are also low in carbohydrates, but I have found a few, like Walden Farms.
buffalo - Bacon and Eggs. No toast.
ReplyDeleteCup of soup.
