Rich - I am not sure I understand your question. Dental school and dental hygiene school are two different programs. I am a dentist and frankly I think that dentistry has a tough future. That being said, if you want to be a dentist, then go for it. Dental hygiene will always be a good field because people want to keep their teeth and prevention is such a big part of it. Programs are so expensive nowadays that I would definitely go with the less expensive one, even if the reputation is not as good. What you learn will be up to you.
ReplyDeleteanonymous - No they arent the same thing. Dental school means school to become a DENTIST which is a doctor of the dental field.
ReplyDeleteDental hygiene programs are for dental hygienists. It is the nurse of the dental field.
Dentists make much more than hygienists. And there are less jobs for hygienists right now during this economic recession. Hygiene is obviously a little easier and cost less than school to become a dentist.
I suggest you research both careers and actually talk to a college advisor before applying to any program seeing as how you seem to know nothing about both careers.
