I just had my port removed and the instructions say that I can't lift over 10 lbs for 4 weeks. I have a 21 lb baby and I would like to at least put him in his crib. What are the dangers in lifting him?
Nancy Nurse - A port line is a central line into your body. While the risk of hemorrhage is slight, do not lift this baby. I hope you are not by yourself. You need to follow your instructions. You will need to have someone help you. I wish you well !
Tiny - Maybe phone up the cath lab people that removed the port and ask them this specific question. You should have discussed all of these things with your doctor prior to leaving the clinic.

ReplyDeleteCJ - It can break your stitches and I don't know what else it could do. You really should talk to your doctor about this!
